Recovery- Day 6

I am happy to report it was another good day for Miss Evin!

-We went on a little field trip downstairs this morning so she could have an echo done on her heart.  The doc reviewed it and said everything looks good!  We are forever grateful to Evin's surgeon and his miraculous handiwork on her tiny heart.

-Evin is wetting diapers like a mad woman and is getting rid of all the excess fluid.  This morning she was about 13 pounds 4 ounces, so she is almost back to her pre-surgery weight!  Funny how they wanted her to gain, gain, gain before her surgery, and now that it is over, they want her to lose to get back to her normal weight.  Sometimes I feel like it is all a big game we are playing!

Can you tell she is starting to get back to her normal size?  She looks a little bigger around her chest area than she really is, because she has heart monitor leads all over her chest as well as a pad over her incision.

-Little E decided she would go ahead and appease her Momma and take a nap or two today.  Of course, it never fails that as soon as she falls asleep, her nurse has to come in to get her vitals.  Don't get me wrong, we love our nurses and know that checking on Evin is their job, but it will be nice to get home so she can nap without all the hospital hustle and bustle!

-The cardiologist was pleased with Evin's eating yesterday, and said that if we have another successful day of eating, that we should go home TOMORROW!  So far, Evin has eaten even better today than she did yesterday, so I expect that I will be writing my daily post tomorrow night from the comfort of my own living room!

I posted a day or two ago about how excited we were about our room in comparison to the PICU.  Here is the room we have been in for the last few days.  We were lucky enough to get a corner room, so it is pretty quiet and we get 2 windows. :)  The cushions come off the back of the couch and that is the "bed" that is really only big enough for 1 person.  There is also a recliner/glider where you can see I am sitting, behind Evin's crib.  So, 1 sleeps on the "bed" and the other in the recliner.

We have our own bathroom and shower, as well as a TV (that I am pretty sure has been on football about 95% of the time we have been here...).

-We haven't had to give Evin any pain medicine at all, and she doesn't act at all like she just had heart surgery.  She is extremely happy and has really been pretty easy-going throughout recovery.  We brought lots of toys and have been switching them out in her crib so she doesn't get too bored.

Can you guess who picked out her onesie today? ;)

I am just blown away by the fact that we could be going home tomorrow, just 1 week after her surgery.  We are praying for a good night and that Evin continues to have an appetite.  We are slowly trying to stretch her little tummy back out so she can eat as much as she was prior to surgery.  Slowly but surely, we are making progress!
