Another month is here and
gone! Evin is 5 months old and turning
into such a big girl. She had so many
big things happen this month. I am with
her pretty much all the time, yet I still can’t seem to get enough of her. Stop growing so fast, little girl!
Weight: About 12.5 lbs
Length: About 24 inches
Clothes Size: Mostly 3 month, but can FINALLY wear some 6
month jammies. They are pretty baggy
but she needs them for the length.
Diaper Size: 1
Shoe Size: 1
Eats 5 times a day and is
on an every 4 hour schedule. Takes 5 ½
to 6 oz during the day and usually around 3-4oz first thing in the morning and
right before bed.
Gets fortified breast milk
from a bottle.
Eating has recently become
a huge battle. It is not because she is
too tired to eat, but because she would much rather play or “talk” than
eat. She usually will take about 2 oz
from the bottle right away, and then loses interest. Bottles in the last couple of weeks have been
taking at least an hour for her to take them.
Wakes up on her own around
7:30am.
Takes 2 big naps a day
(morning and afternoon) and usually 1 shorter nap.
Naps in her crib with her
breathing monitor and the video monitor, but sleeps at night in the pack n play
in our room.
Has to be swaddled for
naps, but not during the night. I think
it is usually the opposite for most babies!
Always turns on her
right side when sleeping, except when swaddled she just turns her head to the
right.
Always wakes up happy!
Still loves to kick her
legs. We have to strap her in to the
bouncer now because I am scared she will bounce herself right out of it!
Getting a little better at
laying on her play mat. Will lay there
for a few minutes at a time, but still doesn’t love it.
Still loves bath time and
will kick and splash. The way we have
her schedule now, she takes a bath late at night and is usually asleep for the
first part of the bath. Halfway through
she wakes up and plays!
Has been swimming several
times and likes it. She kicks her legs
and splashes with her arms. She loves
being in the water but HATES taking off the wet swimsuit and being cold
afterward.
Last month she discovered her hands and this month she discovered her feet. She is always looking at them or grabbing and
holding on to them. I am waiting for her
to get that foot in her mouth!
LOVES to “talk.” She makes lots of “ooh” noises and also
screeches really high pitched. She
learned to blow raspberries too, but sometimes forgets how to do it and you can
see her moving her mouth around trying to figure it out. Does most of her talking at home or in the
car.
Prefers to be held sitting
up. I hold her on my hip sometimes and
you can tell she thinks she is a pretty big girl sitting that way!
When sitting up on the
floor or in a chair she always sits with her legs straight out. I try to bend them a little to help her have
more of a base when sitting, but she straightens them back out. My mom said I did the same!
Has no interest in
standing yet!
Started rice cereal
recently. She is just starting to get
the hang of it and is doing pretty good with it! Takes about a tablespoon a day.
Smiles quite a bit! I can usually get a smile out of her if I
talk to her or smile at her. Most others
have to work a little harder for a smile! She
RARELY (maybe once or twice) smiles at a stranger.
Laughs are starting to
come more frequently, but you have to work hard for them.
Started sitting in the
bumbo.
Went to visit family in
San Angelo and Graham.
Has gotten into a routine
at church on Sundays. I carry her in in
her carseat and usually get her out when we sit down since her carseat makes her hot. She loves the music at
the beginning and will watch and kick her legs and wave her arms. After music she will settle down and falls
asleep during the sermon. Funny girl!
Started teething around 20
weeks. I can see the little white bud on
her bottom gums. I wish it would just go
away! I am not ready for her to have
teeth yet and, of course, I don’t like seeing her in pain.
Has started fussing a
little when being put in her carseat. Will arch her back a little, but settles down
as soon as I give her a paci.
Still a great car rider
and is pretty good while running errands.
Attended her first
birthday party this month. I was just
sure she would cry at strangers, but she surprised me and did so good. She smiled and had a good time watching
everything that was going on. She even
let a few people hold her and didn’t cry.
Progress!
Loves watching sports on
TV.
Little EK- we love you so
much! I love watching you grow and how
you are curious about new things. So
many things will happen this coming month and then you will be our big 6 month
old. I catch myself saying it to you
every day- slow down on the growing just a bit!
