Evin had quite a day today. Our poor girl was poked and prodded by many
different people.
-This morning we learned that she has a little
bit of fluid in her upper right lungs.
She had this several days ago and they were able to break it up and get
it out. We are hoping for the same to
happen again.
-They put in a central line, which is basically
a super IV that all fluids can run through.
They were able to take out her other IVs and the central line should be
able to stay in for the remainder of her stay.
-They moved forward to extubate and take her
off the ventilator today. The tube
removal went fine, but she has had labored breathing ever since. Doctors and nurses say this is because of the
fluid in her lungs and also because she is having to re-learn to breathe on her
own. They are not acting concerned with
her reaction to having the tube out, but it is very difficult for us to watch
Evin struggle to breathe.
-We did get to hear two tiny little cries out
of her today, which was music to our ears!
-Evin will have another chest x-ray in the
morning and we are praying that breathing treatments will knock the fluid loose
in her lung and she will have an easier time breathing.
Please continue to pray that Evin’s breathing
will get easier and that we can stay on the path to a healthy recovery.
