Joyful news- Evin came out of surgery just fine! It was a long day of waiting, waiting,
waiting, but we are out of the NICU and into the PICU to recover from
surgery. We could be here for a few days
if she does really well, but it would not be a surprise if she needs to stay
longer.
We are through the first big
hurdle, the surgery itself, and immediately thrown into the next. The surgery she had today was considered
“simple,” it is the recovery that is the tricky part. Every baby handles it differently, so there
is no telling how Evin will do.
We were told the next 24-48
hours will be a rollercoaster. We have
to pray it is a smooth rollercoaster, but there will probably be scary moments
and ups and downs. They are closely
monitoring her numbers and trying to stabilize her blood pressure, oxygen
saturation and heart rate. They are
keeping her sedated until at least tomorrow and then will work on getting her
off the ventilator after that. We have
been here for 2 hours and they have said she is doing well so far.
The next 1-2 days will be
extremely critical for Evin and I ask that everyone continue to keep
her in your prayers. Nurses continue to
call her feisty and when we got to see her after surgery tonight she was
wearing a red headband with a bow. The
nurse said that the Operating Room nurses selected red specifically for her
because she gave them attitude in the OR.
Our little girl is fighting!
Please continue to pray for
a healthy recovery.
