Mitch and I love having Evin home! She is doing really well as we adjust to our
new normal. She is developing somewhat
of a routine and has even started sleeping in 4-5 hour stretches at night!
Today Evin had her second visit to the
pediatrician. Last week at our visit he
said that he wanted her to gain a ½ ounce to 1 ounce a day. Today when we visited, she had gained 7
ounces in 8 days! She broke the 7 pound
mark and is 7 pounds 2.5 ounces, which is in the 5th percentile. What a little heavyweight! ;)
I will admit, I jumped up and down and cheered
when I saw the number on the scale today.
It is always expected that babies gain weight as the days pass, but for
Evin this means that she is taking in more calories than she burns while she
eats. This is fantastic for a baby with
heart problems since they often have lots of trouble gaining weight. We are so proud of our tiny girl!
She will visit the pediatrician again next week
for another weight check and also has a visit to the cardiologist scheduled for
next week. This visit is at 8:00am and
will last up to 4 hours- yikes! She will
have a sonogram done on her heart and will have several other heart tests
performed to make sure everything is growing and developing as it should after
her surgery. Please pray that everything with her heart is as it should be!
