Rice, Rice Baby

At Evin's 4 month well-check her pediatrician said we could start her on rice cereal whenever we thought she was ready.  He said that because of the timing of her surgery (she will have surgery at 5 1/2 months old) it would probably be better to start her on some solids before that, so we aren't starting from scratch after her surgery while she is trying to recover.  He basically said that we could let her try cereal and get used to eating with a spoon, but not to force it.  He said to try it every few days if she doesn't pick it up right away, and to "just have fun with it."  We tried it for the first time at 19 weeks.

She didn't love it, but didn't hate it either!

I mixed it with breastmilk and made it really runny to try to ease her in to the texture.

Most of it ended up on her face, bib, and hands!

She liked the spoon and kept grinning at it and at us.

She probably only got a tiny bit down, but we had fun trying!
