10 months old

My baby is no longer in the single digits when it comes to months.  I have a 10 month old!

This month…

Weight:  Probably about 17 lbs

Length: About 27 ½ inches?

Clothes: 6-9 month or 9 month

Shoe Size:  2

Diaper Size: 2

Evin was SO difficult during this photo session.  The very second I put the 10 month sticker on her, she took it off.  She was obsessed with it.  One of the only ways I could get her to leave it on was to stand her up in her crib and have her hold onto the rail.  Her hands were occupied holding herself up, so she couldn't get the sticker off!
She was also rather solemn this day and wasn't really in the mood for smiling at Mommy.  There I was, acting like a fool behind the camera to try and get her to smile, and she only gave me a couple of smiles and a lot of stares.  Hopefully 11 months will be better for pictures. :)

Still taking 4 bottles a day of fortified breastmilk.  She takes about 5-6 ounces each bottle and typically eats around 8:30, 12:30, 4:30, and 8:30.

I’ve mentioned before how feeding Evin used to be a stressful experience.  She would take for.ev.er to take a bottle and it wasn’t really a pleasant experience to feed her.  Now, I love getting to give her a bottle!  She takes it in less than 10 minutes and it is a time to get in some sweet cuddles with her.

Eats 3 meals of solids a day.  She gets oatmeal & fruit for breakfast, fruit & veggie for lunch, and rice, veggie & fruit for dinner.  We are working towards her eating more table food.  She isn’t at all ready to move away from pureed baby food yet, but I would say we are making progress.  She likes little bites of bread, cheese, black beans, avocado, banana and sometimes little pieces of mandarin oranges.  She sometimes eats just fine, and other times she gags and occasionally throws up.  She’s a finicky little eater!

No teeth yet!  And really no sign of them coming anytime soon…  This could be part of the reason she isn’t great at eating table food- no teeth to chew anything up!

Still LOVES puffs.  She pokes them in even if she just ate a meal.

She often gets excited during meal time and very forcefully rocks forward and backward while squealing and grinning.  I sometimes worry she is going to hurt herself or bang her head too hard!

Still a great sleeper.  She sleeps for 11-12 hours at night and rarely wakes up or fusses.  She goes down around 8:30pm and wakes up around 8am.

Usually takes 1 long nap (1 ½-2 hours) and 1 short nap (45min-1 hour) each day.

Prefers to sleep on her belly.  I always lay her down on her back, but it doesn’t take her long to flip to her belly and stay that way.

We started using sleep sacks this month and we love them!  Evin stays nice and toasty and I don’t have to worry about her getting the blanket over her head or kicking it off.

Still takes her pacifier to go to sleep and also uses it in the car.

She rolls to get everywhere she wants to go- including over to our shelves to try and get ceramic décor off to play with…

Loves to stand.  I have actually been able to stand her up next to her crib and take her picture with her holding on to it.  This is major progress from a couple of months ago when she would not bear weight on her legs at all!

Will walk if you hold on to her hands and help her.  She isn’t great at bending her knees yet and sometimes takes giant steps and other times takes tiny steps.  It’s kind of funny to watch!

Still not crawling.  She can lay on her belly and use her arms and legs to turn in circles all day long, but won’t just get up and crawl.  I keep thinking if she sees something she wants bad enough that she will get up and crawl, but she doesn’t.  Once she realizes something is out of her reach, she is pretty OK with just finding something else to play with.

Some weeks she will be on a “How big is Evin?” strike and other weeks she does it great.  SHE decides when she wants to do something!

Loves the song “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and knows some of the hand movements.  Is pretty good during the first half of the song but gets a little distracted and lost when we get to “out came the sun…”

Still loves to give kisses!  I hope she is always willing to give this many kisses…but only to her Momma & Daddy, of course! ;)

Still babbles “dadada” all the time!  Doesn’t quite associate it with her daddy yet, but I’m sure she will soon.  I am not having any luck in convincing her to say “Mama” yet.

She makes diaper changes nearly impossible with all the rolling and flailing around she does.

She loves to point at people and things.

Twiddles her thumbs- a lot!

Messy hair!

Loves to examine things.  If you give her a new toy or something to look at, she looks at the front and the back several times before actually playing with it.  She inspects things closely!

Still a bath lover!  She loves to splash with her hands and get everything wet.

Still not great at playing by herself and prefers to have someone sitting with her.  Sometimes she does OK playing by herself if she can see me from across the room, but definitely likes having a playmate.

Who's being a toot today?
"Me! Me! I am!"

Favorite toys:
Rocking Music Giraffe
Musical Makeup Mirror
Drum/Instruments
Books!

She loves music and will clap her hands and dance (rocking front to back).  If a toy stops playing music, she will immediately hit the button or turn the knob to make it start again.  She thinks it should be playing all the time.  We have memorized almost all the songs on her toys, especially on her makeup mirror.  I sing those songs in my sleep!

She has had a rattly cough for the last couple of weeks, but it is only at night.  I have been keeping track of her illnesses and for the past 3 months she has gotten sick about 2-4 days after getting her synagis shot.  I know they will say it is just a coincidence, but I certainly feel like they are related.  We are definitely going to continue on with the monthly shots because it would much rather tolerate minor cold symptoms that a hospital stay due to RSV.  I am grateful that she qualifies for the shot, I just wish it didn’t result in feeling yucky afterward!

She is a master at removing her socks and shoes.  If she has taken a sock or shoe off, 95% of the time it will be her right one!  She wants that right foot to be free.

She started making this funny face where she closes her eyes and scrunches up her face while grinning or smacking her gums together.  She normally does it when she’s excited.

Likes to turn off light switches for me.  When we leave a room I hold her up to turn it off and she looks at me, grins, and turns it off.  Afterward, she always looks so proud!

Scared of the vacuum cleaner and the garage door opening/closing.  She clings to whoever is holding her and buries her head in their chest.

Loves the dogs.

She adores Lane.  Anytime he talks to her or plays with her, she grins so big and gets excited.

Still happy most of the time, but has gotten a little more whiny/fussy this month.  She discovered that fussing with usually get her what she wants…

She loves new clothes and looking at patterns/colors on clothes.  If I put something new on her, she will lift her arm and look closely at the fabric, saying “ooh” and “ahh.”

She is ticklish on her neck and sides.

It’s hard to imagine loving Evin more than I do today, but every day I love her even more.  She fills my heart with joy and makes me laugh every single day.  We love you, sweet baby!
