On October 20th,
Evin turned 19 months old. My baby girl is
closer to being a 2 year old than a 1 year old.
Wahhh!
I haven't done a monthly post since she was 16 months, so this is recapping 17, 18 & 19 months old.
Weight: 20.6 lbs (25th %)
Length: 30 ½ inches
(25th %)
Clothes: 18 month
Shoe Size: 4
Diaper Size: 3
Eats 3 meals and 1 or 2 snacks
a day. She would love to nibble on
things all day long. We try to prevent
constant snacking and just do a big snack after nap, but she usually has
different plans than we do.
A few of her favorite
foods:
Cheese
Blueberry waffles
Chicken (especially
Chick-fil-a)
Cooked carrots
Oranges
Apples
Watermelon
Raisins
I say these are favorites,
but there might be a day that she flat out refuses to eat a food from this
list. She is a strange eater!
Loves food dipped in
ketchup! Also loves ketchup by itself…
Still loves Puffs, but
loves Cheerios even more. They are now
our go-to snack for keeping Evin entertained while running errands or
shopping. Yogurt Melts are also a
favorite.
SHE FINALLY HAS SOME TEETH! She cut her first tooth right before she
turned 17 months. She cut her other
bottom middle tooth and one of her top teeth at 18 ½ months. They are SUPER slow to come all the way
up. I am accepting the fact that pretty
much everything with Evin is going to go slowly…Little Miss likes to take her
time!
She is an 11-12 hour night
sleeper. She sleeps through the night
most of the time, but still has a couple of nights here and there where she
wakes up. We try not to make it a habit of
bringing her in bed with us when she wakes up, although it is definitely the
easiest solution.
Takes 1 nap- in the
afternoon, usually for 2 hours or so.
Occasionally she will decide she only needs a 30 minute nap that day
(ugh) or that she needs a 3 hour nap that day.
She goes through spurts
where she is super easy to put down for bed at night, and then when she is
super hard to put down. Mostly, I can
lay her in her crib awake, but drowsy, and she will put herself to sleep.
She likes to be on the
go. Days where we spend the entire day
at home are usually kind of rough. She
enjoys being out and about.
Everyone comments on her
super sassy walk. She definitely has a
little shake in her hips!
She is becoming a great
little fit thrower. Throws little mini
fits when she doesn’t want to take her PJs off, when SHE wants to be the one to
flip the light switch, when you don’t move on certain things as quickly as she
would like.
She isn’t a very big
talker, but she does say:
Mama, Dada, Beckham, Ball,
No, Car, Go, More, PawPaw, Mia (mah), Mums (muh), Uh-Oh, Bird
She is babbling more
lately, but doesn’t try to repeat anything you tell her unless she knows she
will be able to say it. Already a
perfectionist? I hope not!
Will show you her tummy,
hair, nose, ears, eyes, mouth, teeth, belly button (and they she wants you to
show her yours), knee, toes, feet and hands.
Does lots of animal
noises! Some of my favorites are the
rooster (caw-cuh), the lizard (sticks tongue in and out), and when she grunts
like a pig.
Still obsessed with
Beckham, and the feeling is not mutual.
Mia likes Evin much more than Beckham does, but she insists on trying to
pet, kiss and hug Beckham all the time.
She LOVES to get into the
pantry and get treats out to give the dogs.
She gives Beckham a treat, and then takes Mia’s and holds it behind her
back so Mia can’t get it. We have to
force Evin to give it to her. Little
toot!
We survived the first
couple of months of my first year of teaching.
Evin is doing mostly OK with it, but it was rough in the beginning. She would be SO clingy when I got home and
would suddenly get very fussy. We think
it was because she was scared I was going to leave again, so she would cling to
me or throw a fit if I left the room.
More recently, she has been OK but occasionally acts like she wants
nothing to do with me, almost like she is punishing me for being gone so
much. I try not to take it personally,
but it’s hard!
Loves to have “races” and
us say, “Ready, set, GO!” and she will take off. Sometimes she likes to be the one to say,
“go!”
She occasionally says the
word “no,” but she really loves to shake her head to say “no.”
If something happens and
she gets hurt, she immediately turned to whatever it was (step, toy she ran
into, etc.) and shakes her finger at it and says, “no, no!”
Mitch and I are surprised
at how well she can follow directions, sometimes even 2 step directions. She’s turning into our little helper and will
throw things away or go get things for us.
She LOVES her squeaky
shoes and wants to put them on to wear around the house.
Every time I take Evin’s
diaper off before her bath I say, “Ahh!
Naked girl!” in a high-pitched voice.
She has started beating me to it and will do a little high-pitched
scream the second I take her diaper off.
It is so funny to try to
watch her jump. She will bend her knees
and put her arms back and stand up fast, without actually getting off the
ground. She grins like she has just
jumped a foot in the air!
Mondays and Tuesdays are
Daddy/Evin days. They have gotten into a
little routine of going to the park mid-morning to play for awhile. It is a good way for them to get out of the
house for a little bit and Evin loves it!
Evin started going to an
in-home babysitter for a few hours 1 day a week. Melissa kept Lane when he was little, and she
keeps another little girl that is 2 months younger than Evin. We thought taking her to Melissa would be
good for her socially. The first few
times she went to Melissa’s she cried a few times and spent much of her time
“tattling” on Kinsley by shaking her finger at her and pointing at her
often. She has gotten better and now
cries AND tattles less! :)
Loves to take people by
the hand and lead them around.
Points at things and says
“uhh?” so you will tell her the name of whatever it is.
Chick-fil-a is her
favorite meal!
At her 18 month check-up
her doctor said she is a late bloomer all around. She has done almost everything just a tiny
bit late and talking seems to be that way, too.
If we ask, “Who loves her
Dada/Mama?” she raises her hand in the air.
Loves little plastic
figurine toys.
She loves putting my
bracelets on and taking them off, over and over.
Evin started going to the
church nursery and does fine for the most part.
The second we walk into the building she starts whining and buries her
head into us. She cries when we leave,
but stops pretty much as soon as we get around the corner. One of the nursery workers, Miss Molly, has a
son that has CHD. It is SO much easier
to leave Evin when we know that she is somewhat familiar with her condition!
Loves to wave/smile at
people and kids, but she wants to be the one to initiate it. If someone approaches her, she usually shies
away.
Loves to read the same
books over and over. Especially loves
her counting book where you pop the buttons to count and her first words book
where she points out the objects as you ask where they are.
Always wants to shut the
door. If we go in her room, she shuts
the door behind us. She always shuts our
closet door, the pantry door, or any door that is open, really.
She gets really bothered
if something is how it shouldn’t be. One
day with Melissa, Kinsley had one shoe on and one shoe off. It bothered Evin forever and she wanted it
fixed. She has a little OCD in her!
I really don’t think time
could go any faster than it has been.
Working makes the time fly by SO quickly, but it also makes me truly
cherish the time that I have with Evin.
We love, love, love our sweet girl!
Kyla took all the above pictures when Evin was 18 1/2 months and I LOVE them. She did such a good job with such a difficult & on-the-go client! ;)
Here she is at:
17 months
18 months
19 months
*when she was being particularly difficult and I took about 20 terrible pictures and called it quits*
It's crazy to see how much she changes from month to month!
