Horseshoe Bend- Part 1

In mid-July we loaded up the car and headed out for Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas with GiGi, PawPaw, Granny & Pa.

As Evin says, "Ready to go!"

We  stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrel in Texarkana, and it was nice to get out and stretch our legs while looking around the store inside.

The further we drove, the prettier it got.

Another stop outside of Little Rock for some Chick-fil-a ice cream!

We were AMAZED at how good Evin was on the 7.5 hour trip.  We held out on the DVD player for about an hour and a half, and we she started getting a little restless, we set it up.  Mickey Mouse/Peppa, combined with food/potty breaks and her nap...she barely even fussed the entire drive!  We couldn't believe it.

We explored a little when we arrived, but it wasn't long until the sun was down.  We ate dinner and hit the sack!

Evin was all smiles the next morning!  Our cabin was actually two units, with a door connecting in between them.  There was a set of stairs on each side of a big porch and Evin loved playing there.

A little porch sitting with Pa.

Right behind our cabin there was a small playground, which was perfect for Evin.
There was another, newer playground down by the pool, which Evin affectionately called the "yellow playground" since most of the equipment was yellow.

This was kind of a turning point in Evin swimming.  She decided she was comfortable kicking around in her puddle jumper without being held or pulled along by someone.  Little did we know she would make even more progress later in the summer!

Little munchkin!

Crown Lake

This was Evin's first time on any type of beach, and she didn't really care for it too much.  She didn't like the feel of sand on her feet and didn't want to go in the water past her ankles.  She is my child!  Swimming in lakes, oceans, or bodies of water where I can't see the bottom?  No, thank you!

While Evin was napping, you could find me doing this.  I definitely enjoyed my time reading, which doesn't happen often enough while I'm at home.

We did some fishing off the dock on our second night, but nothing was caught except for this little guy.  He quickly made his way back into the water. :)

Beautiful!

"I'm fwying!"

Our little supergirl!
